I’m afraid this is my first leap into exploring the topic of a war in heaven, but many of the themes I wrote about here appear in some of my shorter pieces. These may help clarify things:
- “The World Soul of Mormonism — Notes on Our Entangled Existence”
- “Elohim, Jehovah, Michael — Notes on Wholeness and the Mormon Temple”
- “Embracing Finitude — Emmanuel Falque, Phenomenology, and Christ”
If I had to summarize this piece on the war in heaven, though, I’d say something like this: Life is essentially struggle, which includes having our desires and preferences periodically violated; the key is not to wish life were easier or that our preferences and desires were always met, but to lean into the discomfort, if not loving what is given to us in life, then at least loving the givenness of life. Something like that. I hope that helps!
